Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Ref. 26586TI

RD#2 in full titanium. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra

Most of Audemars Piguet’s recent creations are variations on a theme, but they’re all well done and very attractive, like the Royal Oak “Jumbo” with a grained dial. That’s exactly the case with the Royal Oak Automatic Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin 41mm.

Based on 2018’s thinnest perpetual calendar #RD2, the model was first introduced a year later in a bimetallic combination of titanium and platinum. But now it’s back in full titanium, which is arguably a much better presentation, with a more understated feel thanks to the fully brushed finish and surprising lightness.

The new perpetual calendar is probably the best of AP’s new offerings. It combines an ingenious, original movement with an iconic case design, in a package that’s compact, light and understated. best luxury replica watches

While this perpetual calendar is no longer the thinnest watch in the world—Bvlgari surpassed that last year—it’s still very thin. At 6.2mm, the case is nearly a quarter thinner than the Royal Oak “Jumbo” ref. 16202. As a result, the watch feels like a thin pancake on the wrist, a feeling that is enhanced by the lightness of the all-titanium case and bracelet.

Being all-titanium means that the mirror-polished components of the previous model, which were made of platinum, have been eliminated. This gives the Royal Oak a more traditional finish, slightly more restrained, but undoubtedly more elegant.

Another new element to this version is the smoked blue dial. It’s beautiful and matches the clean feel of the watch, but I prefer the typical Royal Oak guilloché pattern.

Granted, the new perpetual calendar is just a variation of the 2019 limited edition. Repetition is definitely not innovation or progress, but it doesn’t diminish the inherent appeal of the watch. Both the 2019 model and the current model are limited to 200 watches, and the total production is still not high, which guarantees that this watch will remain quite rare (at least for now). replica Jacob and Co. The Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar is priced at CHF 137,000, which is a reasonable price for a watch of this type. It’s certainly more reasonably priced than the new ceramic Offshore and in line with more modest luxury sports perpetual calendars like the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-Thin. Granted, most of its similarly priced competitors are in precious metals, while this watch is in inexpensive titanium, but the watch is certainly more appealing in terms of tactility and the finesse of the movement.

Concept becomes reality Like its bi-metallic predecessor, the new Perpetual Calendar is derived from the Royal Oak RD#2, a concept watch that debuted in 2018 as the thinnest perpetual calendar watch ever. With an all-platinum case and bracelet, the RD#2 is thin and lightweight, and thanks to a cleverly designed movement, it measures just 6.3mm thick.

The calibre 5133 inside has been compressed to reduce the number of parts, with the calendar module’s parts spread out rather than stacked together. As a result, the movement is wider than normal, yet incredibly thin.

The Perfect replica reviews quickly went into production, in titanium with a platinum bezel and center links. While the concept watch featured a traditional guilloché dial, the limited edition has a dark blue vertically brushed dial, simplifying the look.

The new Perpetual Calendar is essentially another version of the 2019 limited edition. The case is the same size, but now it’s made entirely of titanium and features traditional Royal Oak finishing, meaning all edges have a brushed surface and polished bevels.

Although titanium is darker than steel and slightly more difficult to polish, the case and bracelet are perfectly polished, with a sheen that’s indistinguishable from steel at arm’s length. Of course, titanium is lightweight, giving the watch a surprising sense of lightness, which is perhaps best for a watch with an all-metal bracelet.

The case measures 41mm, making it slightly wider than the “Jumbo” but much thinner at 6.2mm. Despite the different size, the proportions are reminiscent of the “Jumbo,” which is a good thing. replica Breitling Navitimer Watches

As for the dial, it’s radially brushed with a gradient blue finish that goes from a medium tone to almost black at the edges. It’s a nice look, but the smoked finish is bordering on overkill these days, with many brands turning to gradient dials to easily create a new look.

The mechanicals of the watch remain the same, with the caliber 5133 continuing to function at just 2.9mm thick. The caliber 5133 is based on the original 2120 ultra-thin movement that Jaeger-LeCoultre developed for the 1972 Royal Oak ref. 5402, which reduces the moving parts to a minimum to achieve the slimness. For example, the barrel features a “floating” or “suspended” construction with a pivot on only one side. The barrel’s upper pivot is then held in place by the underside of the dial, which acts as a sort of mainplate. Other innovations include a reshaped calendar mechanism that expands the gears that drive the calendar to a diameter of 32 mm, about 10% wider than the standard Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar movement, but much thinner.

Of course, the simplified movement construction requires some compromises. One is the relatively slow balance frequency of just 2.75 Hz or 19,800 bph (most modern movements run at 4 Hz or 28,8000 bph), which is not the best for keeping stable time when subjected to shocks or other disturbances.

Another is the compact mainspring, which has a short power reserve of 40 hours. By comparison, the latest generation cal. 7121 movement, which is currently equipped in the Royal Oak "Jumbo" reference 16202, runs for 70 hours. replica watches for sale
